Fissure is large scale sculpture made from steel poles extending out from under ground. The work examines the actions and tools used in breaking up the earth to expose or extract a body of wealth and forms a static monument to this activity. It expresses the physical or symbolic adjustment to the environment which can at times be destructive and somewhat at odds to the value of the acquired material.
